What is the 'Neon Valley Showcase' at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas?

In January of 2018 we, the team at Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas, asked what shows our fans would like to see this year at our venue. After reading through nearly 1,000 combined responses across our social media posts, it became quite clear that Las Vegas was in need of an event dedicated to our city's local musicians. You spoke, and we listened. Our next question: which local acts would they like to see? After an outpouring of suggestions (another ~6,700 social media replies!) we quickly realized that one night wouldn't be enough to feature the abundance of local talent that Las Vegas beholds. Here is where the idea for the "Neon Valley Showcase" was born, thanks to your help! The Neon Valley Showcase is a new, ongoing, series hosted by Brooklyn Bowl Las Vegas and local artist, Ryan Brunty, of Depressed Monsters. These free concerts highlight the city's best and brightest emerging musicians. Each event features several Las Vegas based performers, plus local artists, DJ sets, discounted bowling specials and more. The first showcase will take place on SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 3, and will feature O Wildly, Mike Xavier, The All-Togethers, and sounds by The Rabbit Hole. >> RSVP TO THE FEB. 3 EVENT HERE << Like we mentioned above, since we received so many requests, we've already set aside a date for the next one in March. If you'd like to be featured, please come out to the first event, meet us, meet each other, and bring your music. We'll talk to everyone and plan from there! O WILDLY:

O Wildly is an Indie Rock and Roll trio. Formed by Adam Christopher Smith and Carlos Vargas in early 2015, the band quickly wrote new songs and played its first set of shows later that October, lighting the fuse to become a powerful voice in the city's music scene. They quickly began headlining shows at local casinos, opening for major acts, and even received the attention from The Killers’ producer, Mark Stoermer (David Hopkins). The rockers recently finished up a session with Hopkins at Vegas' National Southwestern Recording, creating three new songs: “Run From Me,” “We All Hope,” and “You’re Not Around.” On recording, O Wildly frontman Adam Smith says, “[Hopkins] brought a little more of a psychedelic vibe, which helped to expand our sound.” Stay tuned for a full length album coming soon!

MIKE XAVIER:

Mike Xavier is a man on a mission to make a difference. The L.A.-born rapper/songwriter moved to Las Vegas two years ago, and while he’s relatively new to the city’s ever-evolving hip-hop scene, he’s already making waves. From performing at dozens of open mic-nights, to headlining a show at Bunkhouse (another local music venue), he hopes to make a positive influence in hip-hop with the aim to relate, connect and inspire. Some of Xavier’s major influencers include; Nas, Tupac and Guru from Gang Starr are on his sleeve, but it goes beyond that. “Jack Johnson is one of my favorite songwriters. His lyrics are simple, yet profound. I want to be like that.” Xavier’s flow and cadence are reminiscent of Black Star-era Talib Kweli, his voice seamlessly floats above laid-back instrumentals begging to be played by a live band. Thus, it's only fitting that Xavier’s current crew consists of Vegas-scene heavyweights like guitarist Camden West and members of Cameron Calloway’s band, another staple in the Vegas music scene.

THE ALL-TOGETHERS:

The All-Togethers self-describe their sound as “hillbilly jazz.” The quartet, made up of Cindy and Ken Osborne, Michael Louis Austin, and Brenna Lee combines a style that is both retro and new — think 1950s Sunday-best meets West-Coast-hip. Using down-home Southern banjo twang, highbrow cello highlights, an upright bass, and more, their tunes run the gamut. While listening to some songs it's easy to imagine you’re leisurely strolling the Quarter in New Orleans, yet at other times their combination of palpitating strings energize you with freight train speed. This versatility is part of what makes them all-together wonderful. As echos of mandolin, thumping and uninhibited bass-lines, and a seamless blend of skillful banjo melodies fill the room during their live shows, it's no wonder they're able to captivate any audience.

THE RABBIT HOLE:

Once a fantasy project started by three friends, The Rabbit Hole, has now blossomed into a hub for beat-making producers in Las Vegas. TRH's three co-founders, Lucas Ybarra (Lwkylky), Jamaal Long (Mute), and Ty Bolden (Mayneframe), are paving the way for independent music producers to connect, create and share their work. Established in July 2015, the founders took on the mission to be the change they wished to see in Las Vegas. Inspired by L.A.’s beat-music scene, they wanted to create a similar platform for Las Vegas that would thrive in underground sounds, visual stimulation and the exchange of good energy. Together they gathered a collection of producers and sound connoisseurs, thus creating a collective of like-minded musicians, which now consists of 13 members and growing. Collectively, they put on monthly events across town, where tRH members deliver sets of their own, while also bringing in top-talent artists to Vegas including Daedelus, Scoop DeVille, Samiyam, MadBliss and many more big names in the beat world.
