The Space Cadets Headline a Terrific Night of Rockabilly, Soul, and Surf Rock at Brooklyn Bowl London
Posted On Friday, September 25th
What do you get when you cross four of Liverpool’s top rockabilly performers with 1950s sci-fi B movies? The Space Cadets, the entertaining quartet — Deke Tempest, Marky X, Ring of Steel, and Lunar Stik, dressed for a space walk — that’s been performing what they call “astrobilly” for enthusiastic audiences across the globe going on 20 years now. Of course, you won’t have to travel all the way to the States or Australia to see the Space Cadets (below, doing “Awakadeewakadoo”) because they make a rare live appearance in London right here at Brooklyn Bowl London on 3 October. And not only should you expect a lively performance, but you should also count on terrific sets from Yvan Serrano-Fontova’s local garage-rock-and-soul outfit, the Dustaphonics (stream their most recent album, Big Smoke London Town, below), and Hackney (from Mexico via the French Riviera) instrumental surf-noir four-piece the Bikini Beach Band
(stream their latest, Tide’s Out…?, below).
