The Original Wailers Honor Bob Marley’s Legacy on Wednesday at Brooklyn Bowl

Comprised of Bob Marley, Peter Tosh, and Neville Livingston (Bunny Wailer/Bunny Livingston), the ska-vocal trio the Wailers formed in Kingston, Jamaica, more than 50 years ago. Eventually the group grew larger as others joined, but when Tosh and Livingston refused to tour, the band broke up, and Bob Marley and the Wailers were born, with Marley soon becoming one of the most famous musicians in the world. But despite his death, succumbing to cancer at just 36 in 1981, the music has continued. Led by the original Bob Marley and the Wailers guitarist, Al Anderson, the Original Wailers — Anderson (guitar and vocals), Chet Samuels (vocals and guitar), Noel Aiken (keys), Rohan Reid (bass), and Howard Smith (drums) — honor the legacy of Marley’s music while adding in some of their own. Performing material from their EP, Miracle, and Marley’s considerable catalog, the Original Wailers play Brooklyn Bowl on Wednesday. Funky D.C. reggae outfit Nappy Riddem open the show.
