Stooges Brass Band Kick Off Four-Week Residency in Brooklyn on Monday Night
Posted On Friday, June 5th
Expertly mashing together traditional brass music with funk, hip-hop and R&B, the Stooges Brass Band have been doing work straight out of New Orleans since tuba player Walter “Whoadie” Ramsey got two rival high school marching bands together in 1996. They’ve since become known as a party-starting, energetic live band that’s not to be missed, winning over audiences across the world in the process. So stream some of their work below, watch them, above, performing “Wind It Up” for Red Bull Sessions, and then come out and join the dance party. They’re doing a four-week residency, with special guests at each appearance, in Brooklyn. Pick a night and get in on the fun: 6/8 with Pitchblak Brass Band, 6/15 with Natalie Cressman and Innove Gnawa, 6/22 with Kat Wright and the Indomitable Soul Band, and 6/29 with Jamie McLean Band and New Orleans Swamp Donkeys Traditional Jass Band.
