Brooklyn Bowl Presents “In-Between Sets” with RJD2
Posted On Saturday, January 9th
As RJD2, the producer, DJ, label owner, and singer-songwriter Ramble John Krohn has been putting his own unique spin on underground hip-hop and electronic pop since before the turn of the century. And with a new album, Dame Fortune, due to arrive this spring, he’s out on the road, which brings him to Brooklyn Bowl next Tuesday and Wednesday.
QUESTIONS
1. What’s your favorite after-show meal?
Depends on the town. Montreal? Poutine. Austin? Tacos. Usually everything is closed, so it’s more like trail mix.
2. If you could choose one song to play when you enter a room, what song would you choose?
Pharoahe Monch, “Simon Says”
3. Who’s your favorite active musician/band today?
My mind doesn’t deal in favorites so easily. Son Little is up there, though.
4. What artist or band today would you want to collaborate with?
D’Angelo will always be up there. Chance the Rapper, I love that
dude’s music.
5. What musical moment do you wish you saw in history?
Zeppelin after III came out
6. If you weren’t a musician, what job would you choose?
Fine carpentry
7. Would you rather live underwater or in outer space?
Oh shit, that is a great question. Underwater, I’d say. Jules Verne/The Abyss/BBC docs did a number on me.
8. What song can you not get out of your head today?
“Iron Man,” Black Sabbath, ’cause my son sings it ALL the time.
9. If you could travel in time, would you rather go to the future or
to the past?
The future, definitely. The future is way more lucrative than the past.
