1) Danzig with Deafheaven, VAMPS, and 3TEETH - Saturday, 9/23 TICKETS

This show will feature Danzig along with an array of bands with diverse metal styles. Danzig, founded in 1987, is the creative outlet for singer-songwriter Glenn Danzig.  Danzig was one of the founders and core members of the horror-punk band The Misfits (who disbanded in 1983).  Danzig went on to form Samhain and then Danzig.  The band is inspired by punk bands such as the Velvet Underground and preceding horror-punk bands, with a bluesy style similar to early Black Sabbath.  Danzig is passionate about making music that is meaningful and lasts, not music that is only around for a year or two, and got into punk because said “he was sick of the same crap the radio stations were playing”.  He believes that punk music is all about the vital energy that the artists express onstage.  “If I can make people forget whatever they’re dealing with, for an hour and a half or two hours… that’s nice.” Danzig will be supported by Deafheaven, VAMPS, and 3TEETH.  Deafheaven is a band that seamlessly combines the shoegaze and black metal genres, with fast tempos and high-energy, shrieking vocals.  VAMPS is a Japanese rock duo with clean vocals and an energetic, hard rock sound.  3TEETH features an industrial and very dark sound/vibe and is known for their use of ominous visuals during their live performances.  The band was selected by Tool to be their supporting act on their 2016 North American tour.

Havok is another thrash metal band whose new album Conformicide came out earlier this year.  The album’s lyrics center around current social issues, a disdain for the current American political climate, and rebelling against social constructs.  Some themes include Political Correctness (“when the censorship begins, they will come for you!”), the real enemies being the “system” or government as opposed to foreign entities, and about the futility of war (“War is a racket// Paid for with your cooperation// War is a racket// Paid for because of misinformation).
